Hello Aidwatchers,

 

Our Voices from Bangladesh speaking tour is now well underway and a second
Sydney event has just been announced for Sunday the 18th. Join us to fully
comprehend the scale of the disastrous Phulbari coal mine and get involved
with this international campaign.  

 

In other news, AID/WATCH is looking for a new staff member to help us manage
our office and our fundraising program. Please feel free to forward the
details to anyone who you think would be interested in this role.

2.	NEW SYDNEY EVENT: Catholics in Coalition for Justice and Peace host
Dr Anu Muhammed for their Sunday Seminar

 

Catholics in Coalition for Justice and Peace are hosting a Sunday seminar
this weekend to and will feature Dr Anu Muhammed. If you missed the Sydney
leg of the "Voices of Bangladesh" speaking tour here is another chance to
hear about the Phulbari project and how you can be involved in stopping this
catastrophic mine.

3.    POSITION VACANT: Office and Fundraising Manager

AID/WATCH is seeking to employ a part-time office and fund-raising manager
to be based in our Sydney office. This role focuses on managing our small
office, implementing key elements of AID/WATCH's fund-raising program in
collaboration with other staff and includes some book-keeping and financial
management duties.

4.    EVENT: Australian Aid to Indonesia - A seminar organized by Indonesian
Solidarity

 

Now the Labor government under Kevin Rudd has promised to be a world leader
in the fight against global poverty, how will Australian aid help human
rights, democracy and poverty eradication in Indonesia?

 

This seminar, organised by Indonesian Solidarity and supported by the
Department of Indonesian Studies at the University of Sydney, will feature
Keynote speaker, Binny Buchori, Executive Director of Perkumpulan PraKarsa,
member of The High Level Panel on IMF Board Accountability and the
Washington-based NGO's 'New Rules of Global Finance' Panel of Experts.
