AID/WATCH 
Campaigner – Land is Life campaign
 
AID/WATCH is an independent, membership-based watchdog of aid and 
development policies and programs. We are seeking to employ a campaigner to join 
our existing team and facilitate our ‘Land is Life’ 
campaign.
 
Funding is currently available for a part-time position (15 hours per wk) 
for a period of 6 months, with the possibility that this position can be 
extended depending on funding and the suitability of the candidate. The position 
will be reviewable in conjunction with a performance development review after a 
two-month probationary period. The position is based in Sydney. Exceptional 
candidates not based in Sydney may be considered.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
•    Manage the implementation of 
AID/WATCH’s Land is Life campaign in line with AID/WATCH’s own strategic 
planning, including the production of research and outreach 
opportunities;
•    Facilitate the production and 
dissemination of research and publications associated with this 
campaign,
•    Build and supervise a team of 
capable and dedicated active members to work with AID/WATCH on this 
campaign,
•    Contribute to a strong media 
profile for the campaign,
•    Coordinate fundraising as 
necessary in the campaign area and act on fundraising opportunities that 
arise,
•    Facilitate public speaking 
engagements and outreach opportunities to inform people about AID/WATCH 
campaigns,
•    Build and maintain existing 
relationships that AID/WATCH has with government and NGO organisations in 
Australia and overseas,
•    Liaise with the Committee of 
Management as required, 
•    Handle day-to-day 
organisational tasks as required
•    Some national and 
international travel may be required.
 
Essential knowledge and skills:
•    Understanding of aid, land 
rights issues or development issues relevant to the 
Pacific
•    Experience working in 
solidarity with communities and counterparts in the global 
south,
•    High level research and 
writing skills to be applied in a campaign context;
•    Experience in campaigning on 
social and environmental justice issues, including experience mobilising members 
and the public
•    Demonstrated capacity to be 
self-directed and work independently,
•    Ability to work in a team 
with an open and consensus style of communication;
•    Excellent oral communication 
skills including in a cross-cultural context;
  
Desirable skills and knowledge:
•    Experience in advocacy and 
campaign organisations;
•    Experience of working in a 
member-based organization
•    Understanding of and 
experience with budget planning, fundraising and financial 
management;
•    Experience in project 
management, particularly as it relates to campaign 
coordination
•    Strong understanding of 
issues relevant to AID/WATCH
 
Salary: 15 hours 
per week at $52,439 per annum pro rata for a period of 6 
months
