1. Publication: In Defence of Melanesian Customary Land
This AID/WATCH publication presents Melanesian and Australian perspectives on the broad themes of customary land in the region, as well as particular issues in Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. Read about the crucial importance of customary lands to the lives and livelihoods of Melanesian peoples, and the threats posed by the current push to reform land tenure systems in the region

2. AID/WATCH in the News: Melanesian Land Speaking Tour
In March, AID/WATCH travelled around Australia for two weeks with Steven Sukot (Bismarck Ramu Group, PNG) and Joel Simo (Vanuatu Cultural Centre). These leading campaigners for land rights in Melanesia spoke about the importance of customary land to Melanesian peoples and concerns about the impacts of land reforms on their cultures, economies and livelihoods.

3. AID/WATCH in the News: AID/WATCH going to the High Court
AID/WATCH was granted application for special leave to appeal to the High Court and is now set to run an historic test case to clarify the definition of a charity, with the High Court hearing set for 15 and 16 June.

4. AID/WATCH in the News: Concerns about climate aid budget
AID/WATCH said the measures announced in the overseas aid budget to help developing countries adapt to the impacts of climate change and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions are "inadequate and misleading".

This new report by the Reality of Aid Network takes a critical look at the nature, shortcomings and potential of South-South Development Cooperation. It includes a chapter by AID/WATCH Committee member, Dr. Tim Anderson, on Cuban health cooperation programs in Timor Leste and the South West Pacific.
