1. EVENT: Political Charity? Impact of the AID/WATCH case

In December 2010 the High Court recognised that charities can have a political purpose. The High Court ruling was the culmination of a four-year legal battle by AID/WATCH, which had been disqualified as a charity by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

The Cosmopolitan Civil Societies Research Centre is organising a conference to bring together lawyers, charity workers, and academics to reflect on the implications of the case.

When: Friday 15 April, 9:00am - 2:00pm

Where: Mitchell Theatre, Sydney Mechanics School of the Arts

                        280 Pitt St. Sydney

The event is free but places are limited so please preregister by sending an email to ccs at uts.edu.au
