a year and a half in the courts, I’m very pleased to share the news that
AID/WATCH has been successful in its appeal of the ATO’s decision to
remove our charity status in late 2006. This is great news not just for
AID/WATCH, but for charities across Australia as it vindicates the right of
charities not just to provide services to those in need, but also to monitor
government action on issues of social and environmental concern, to ensure they
act in the interests of the poor in our region.</span><span lang=EN-AU><o:p></o:p></span></p>

In Scotland a town has been polluted by oil and chemical companies since the
1940s. In Brazil local people's water and land is being swallowed up by
destructive monoculture eucalyptus tree plantations. Both communities now share
a new threat.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Carbon Connection follows the story of two groups of people from each community
who learned to use video cameras and made their own films about living with the
impacts of the carbon market. From mental health issues in Scotland to the loss
of medicinal plants in Brazil, the communities discover the connections they
have with each other and the film follows them on this journey.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

on one of the most incendiary political uprisings in a generation, Battle in
Seattle takes an in-depth look at the five days that rocked the world in 1999
as tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in protest on the
World Trade Organization. What began as a peaceful protest intended to stop the
WTO talks quickly escalated into a full-scale riot and eventual State of
Emergency that squared off the protesters against the Seattle Police Department
