AID/WATCH Campaigner <br>
<br>
Aid for trade campaign in the Pacific</b><br>
<br>
AID/WATCH is an independent, membership-based watchdog of aid and development
policies and programs. We are seeking to employ a campaigner to join our
existing team and facilitate a campaign on aid for trade in the Pacific. <br>
<br>
Funding is currently available for part-time position (22.5 hours per wk) for a
period of 20 weeks, with the possibility that this position can be extended
depending on funding and the suitability of the candidate. The position will be
reviewable in conjunction with a performance development review after a
one-month probationary period. The position is based in Sydney.<br>
<br>
<b>Specific Responsibilities:</b><br>
• Facilitate the implementation of AID/WATCH’s
pacific aid for trade campaign in line with AID/WATCH’s own strategic
planning;<br>
• Help build a strong team of capable and dedicated active
members to work on AID/WATCH campaigns both within the office and nationally;<br>
• Help organise regular AID/WATCH volunteers and
members information sessions to provide updates on campaigns;<br>
• Undertake public speaking engagements to inform
people about AID/WATCH and our campaigns;<br>
• Build and maintain existing relationships that
AID/WATCH has with government and NGO organisations in Australia and overseas;<br>
• Assist with the production of research and
publications associated with this campaign;<br>
• Assist with fundraising and act on fundraising
opportunities that arise within the campaign area;<br>
• Help build a strong media profile for the AID/WATCH
campaign in collaboration with existing staff,<br>
• Liaise with the Committee of Management and Executive
as required<br>
• Some national and international travel may be
required<br>
<br>
<b>Essential knowledge and skills:</b><br>
• Experience of working in a member-based organization<br>
• Experience of organising and mobilising members and
the public for social change <br>
• Experience in campaigning on social and environmental
justice issues<br>
• Demonstrated capacity to be self-directed and work
independently;<br>
• Experience working in solidarity with communities and
counterparts in the global south<br>
• Ability to work in a team with an open and consensus
style of communication;<br>
• Excellent oral communication skills including in a
cross-cultural context;<br>
• High level research and writing skills to be applied
in a campaign context;<br>
<br>
<b>Desirable skills and knowledge:</b><br>
• Understanding of aid or trade issues or development
issues relevant to the Pacific<br>
• Experience in advocacy and campaign organisations;<br>
• Understanding of and experience with budget planning,
fundraising and financial management;<br>
• Experience in project management, particularly as it
relates to campaign coordination<br>
• Strong understanding of issues relevant to AID/WATCH<br>
<br>
Salary: 22.5 hours per week at $52,439 per annum pro rata for a period of 20
weeks<br>
