<div class="summary"> AID/WATCH is an independent,
membership-based watchdog of aid and development policies
and programs. We are seeking to employ a campaigner to
join our existing team and facilitate our ‘Land is Life’
campaign.</div>
<div class="body">
<p>Funding is currently available for a part-time position
(22.5 hours per wk) for a period of 6 months.</p>
<p>The position will be reviewable in conjunction with a
performance development review after a two-month
probationary period. The position is based in Sydney.
Exceptional candidates not based in Sydney may be
considered.</p>
<p>Specific Responsibilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>Manage the AID/WATCH’s Land is Life campaign;</li>
<li>Facilitate the production and dissemination of
research and publications associated with this
campaign;</li>
<li>Continue MILDA (Melanesian Indigenous Land Defence
Alliance) support work, in particular communications
support, website development, and publication of
materials including video resources;</li>
<li>Work to recruit and include active volunteer members
to work with AID/WATCH on this campaign;</li>
<li>Contribute to a strong media profile for the
campaign;</li>
<li>Coordinate fundraising as necessary in the campaign
area;</li>
<li>Liaise with the Committee of Management and other
Aid/Watch staff and some participation in Aid/Watch
activities;</li>
<li>Some national and international travel may be
required.</li>
</ul>
<p>Essential knowledge and skills:</p>
<ul>
<li>Understanding of aid, land rights issues or
development issues relevant to the Pacific;</li>
<li>Experience working in solidarity with communities
and counterparts in the global south;</li>
<li>Research and writing skills to be relevant to a
campaign context;</li>
<li>Experience in campaigning on social and
environmental justice issues, including experience
mobilising members and the public;</li>
<li>Demonstrated capacity to be self-directed and work
independently,</li>
<li>Ability to work in a team with an open and consensus
style of communication;</li>
<li>Excellent oral communication skills including in a
cross-cultural context.</li>
</ul>
<p>Desirable skills and knowledge:</p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in advocacy and campaign organisations;</li>
<li>Experience of working in a member-based
organization;</li>
<li>Understanding of and experience with budget
planning, fundraising and financial management;</li>
<li>Experience in project management, particularly as it
relates to campaign coordination;</li>
<li>Strong understanding of issues relevant to
AID/WATCH.</li>
</ul>
<p>Salary: 22.5 hours per week at $52,439 per annum pro
rata for a period of 6 months.</p>
