4. ARTICLE: Forget About Missy
Did Rudd's advisers muddle up the briefing papers? What with all the
hullaballoo over whether Kevin Rudd was only going to New York to meet Missy
Higgins, everyone, including the Prime Minister himself, seemed to have
forgotten exactly why he was in the Big Apple.
Read AID/WATCH Director, Flint Duxfield's article on the need for Rudd to
remember the global fight against poverty and the Millennium Development
Goals.

5. ACTION: email the Colombian Consulate in support of worker's rights
In Colombia, for the last 20 days between 12 000 and 18 000 men who work the
cane fields in have been on strike. Their strike has stopped 80% of all
production of sugar in Colombia and it is estimated that it has cost the
sugar sector around $450 million. In the words of one of the sugar cane
workers, the strike is a historic moment against the exploitation of 200
years of slavery.
Activists in Colombia have asked AID/WATCH members and friends to support
striking workers in Colombia by emailing:
<mailto:ConsulateofColombia at tpg.com.au> ConsulateofColombia at tpg.com.au in
support of their rights.
