5. EVENT: PNG based environmental lawyer Tiffany Nonggorr visiting Melbourne
As you may know at present in Papua New Guinea there is a legal battle being waged between landowners in Madang province, and the Chinese government owned Ramu Nico nickel mine around the deep sea tailings waste disposal proposed by the mine.
Tiffany Nonggorr, the PNG based Australian lawyer representing the landowner plaintiffs, will be in Melbourne this week to talk about the case so far, accountability of the PNG government and the many implications this case has.
